At the entrance of the Valle di Casies lies the village Monguelfo
- called Welsberg in German - and the holiday locality Tesido
at the Kronplatz. Monguelfo is the native place of Paul Troger. Here, at the
estuary of the Casies and the Rienza rivers, visitors will find
ideal conditions for a relaxing vacation – recharge your batteries in the hotel
or holiday flat of your choice.
During the summer months Monguelfo –
Tesido is a popular hiking region. Predominantly pleasant temperatures make it
possible to take extensive hikes and walks through the holiday region Val
Pusteria and visit the Monguelfo Castle.
Speaking of Welsberg and castle:
during summertime the castle in Monguelfo houses many art exhibitions and also a
couple of concerts take place inside the Monguelfo Castle. A visit of the
church
of St. George in Tesido or the church of St. Margaret in Monguelfo are highly
recommended. To round up your cultural sightseeing tour you can visit the
chapels of Erasmus and Jakob in Tesido and make a side trip to the museum of
Monguelfo Castle.
The most popular citizen
of Monguelfo – Tesido is Paul Troger. Born in 1698 in Monguelfo, Paul Troger
used to belong to the most popular baroque painters in the German - Austrian
area.
